I can die now .... the unbelievable has happened.
I lived and died with the Red Sox for ... well a very long time. (had to apologise to co-workers after I shouted obscenities at work ... yes Bucky $%&*#$ Dent, have a picture of Catfish Hunter giving me the finger, & I had to buy a new TV in 1986 after game 6)
When I moved to Colorado, the Rockies did not exist (the baseball team, not the mountains - I'm not THAT old). But when the team started I got season tickets ... and thought that the perfect season would be if the Rockies and the Red Sox would play in the World Series..... and here we are.
this year - I will Win and Lose .....
the coins can by placed on my eyes.
This is an exciting time for me.... yes more baseball.
- The Colorado Rockies are still playing for something and it is almost October.
This hasn't happened for a very long time. - Troy Tulowitzki - Should be the Rookie of the year in the National League & should win a gold glove.
(okay that is just my opinion .... but I was seen most of the competition play) - Matt Holliday - Is a strong canidate for MVP of the League.
(and if the Rockies can win 5 more games I think that he will win it.) - Another thing that excites me is the Barry Bonds "756 ball" ..... how perfect. The ball goes to the Hall of Fame with a fan selected Big Fat * branded into it. have to hand it to Marc Ecko .... now if he will just buy Mark McGuires Ball and do the same thing!
- And the Yankees .... they might win the WILD CARD ! I love that too.... second place! will they hang that banner? (although I am still not confident. Boston still might blow it - I am to use to that.)
Recently (thanks to a neighbor here on vox) I have been thinking about my Basset Hound. My dog has been gone for about 15 years and is buried outside my office window. I picked him out of a large litter... he was the only one that didn't "use the bathroom" while I was making my choice. I later found out that he was just waiting to get into the car before he would show me his talents.
He took forever to housebreak which is common for bassets. That is probably why you see a lot of ads in the paper that read
"Basset Hound 10 months old - Free to good home"
I always remember back to the house breaking days when I see those ads.
He was great around the kids, and with the possible exception of the slobbering and the smelly ears, he was a good indoor dog. As for the outside, if the gate was left open, he would always follow his nose exploring whatever the neighborhood had to offer. I always felt sorry for him in the winter. His little legs were not long enough to keep his 'private parts' out of the snow.... it made for some interesting tracks in the snow and might explain why he was sterile.
He was fun to have around and I miss that unique bark that only basset hounds have.
What one year of your life would you like to re-live, if you were given the chance?
Submitted by Ross.
My senior year in high school.
I reconnected with a girl after moving away 7 years earlier ...we went to look at a college together (I had plans that included her, she had plans that didn't include me).... and I let her walk away. She was the love of my life.... since kindergarten.
